The vision of Citywide Prayer Network (CPN) is to encourage and
establish citywide prayer for
Lee's Summit,
with the ultimate goal of praying 24 hours a day, seven days a week, year
round. These prayers are focused on our own home churches, the regional
churches, and the City of Lee's Summit.
Individuals would make a six-month commitment and sign up for a minimum of
one-half hour per week. Churches are encouraged to set aside larger blocks of
time during which their sanctuary will be open and available for prayer, and
appoint a contact person who will be responsible for overseeing a few
organizational duties. A spirit of unity is desired; that is, an agreement of
desire for God's blessing, the Holy Spirit's help, through prayer in Jesus'
name.

How can I help?
God is calling
Lee's Summit to
prayer, and we would love for you and your church to be involved in making an
impact on our community.
How can you help? By signing up on the
Lee's Summit
prayer wall and by praying in unity with other churches in
Lee's Summit.
We only ask that you sign up for a minimum
of one time slot on at least one day of the week, for a period of six months.

Statement of Faith
Our statement of faith follows these essential beliefs:
-
The Deity of Christ including His virgin birth (Luke 1:26 - 38), perfect life
(Heb 4:15), atonement on the cross (Heb 9:11-14), resurrection (1 Cor
15:3-4) and return (Matt 24:29-31).
-
We recognize that Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of God, and its only
through Him that a person can attain salvation (John 14:16).
-
The Holy Bible is the only inspired Word of God (II Tim 3:16).
-
The Trinity - Father, Son and the Holy Ghost.

Dr. Elizabeth Targ, a psychiatrist at the Pacific College of Medicine in San Francisco, has also tested out prayer on critically ill AIDS patients. All 20 patients in the study got pretty much the same medical treatment, but only half of them were prayed for by spiritual healers. Ultimately, 10 of the prayed-for patients lived, while four who had not been prayed for died.

Our Plan

|
"Praying always with all prayer... and supplication for all the saints and
for me, that utterances may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to
make known the mystery of the gospel." --Ephesians 6:18-19
The first focus is prayer for
each participating congregation. Some specific prayer points are:
-
Primary leadership.
Pray for personal character, family relationships, spiritual vitality,
public ministry, complete fulfillment of calling and perseverance of faith,
hope and love through all things. (Phil 1:19-20)
-
Supporting leadership
such as associates, youth leaders, elders, deacons and staff, for the same
needs. (Col 4:3)
-
Whole congregations including families, singles, youth and
children.
(Col 1:3)
-
Special events
such as conferences, mission trips and outreaches. (Acts 13:2-3)
-
Spiritual unity where each member esteems others higher than
themselves (Rom 12:10-12)
"And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be... and pray to
the Lord for it, for in its peace you will have peace." -- Jeramiah 29:7

Our third focus is
in the city of Lee's Summit,
including:

Again, we at CPN are asking
for Christians to commit themselves to join with us during your usual prayer
time, for a period of six months. If several people from your church
participate, we would like to establish a contact person within the group with
whom we can communicate. We will provide each participating church with a
letter of introduction to display in your church, and each member will
receive a membership card with their log-on name and password.
Pray about how your church can get involved, then contact us
here. Of utmost importance is this: This is not to be taken under a yoke
of burden, rather with a spirit of grace. You are to accomplish what you can,
as you can, and there is no guilt or condemnation for what seems left
unfinished. For children, we simply ask that you do the best that you can.
